Now is the time to commit to Queenstown - Aarons update from Hanleys Farm

Welcome to the first instalment of my humble point of view in this beautiful part of the world we call Queenstown.


We are in tumultuous times to say the least, and we should all be proud as a nation of where we have come in the past weeks and where we are going in the future.


Queenstown lakes district has been hit so hard by this pandemic, and as we begin our road to recovery, unemployment rates could reach as high as 30% and now is the time for us all to muck in and do our part to get our locals and international workers back in employment. I am no professional in this field by any means but, I know if we act locally by spending locally, we all little by little will begin to rise exponentially. With level 3, builders are back on the tools and it’s great to hear the sound of hammers and the bustle of building at Hanleys' Farm once again, these men and women will get their coffee in the morning from a local café, have got their smoko from a local dairy, and when they knock off they might even buy a couple of beers from their local bottle shop, all of these businesses are mostly locally owned and employ locals. I guess you can see where I am going here, let’s do everything to keep our precious dollars in Queenstown.


The building industry is one of the largest employment sectors in Queenstown lakes, and if you were thinking about getting that new home built or even doing an extension or renovation you will play a big role in not only building a property, you will also help with a much bigger rebuild on our little piece of paradise. Some good news from the reserve bank, announcing that restrictions on Loan to Value Ratio (LVR) have been lifted, taking effect from 1st May and will be reviewed in the next 12 months, hopefully this will help a lot of people, especially those first home buyers. This combined with the official cash rate (OCR) being reduced to 0.25 percent this will allow a lot of people who thought they couldn’t get into the market a fairer chance at the dream of a new home.
