Living Spaces matched to Lifestyle at Te Whariki

Christchurch building company RNP Homes says its new show home in Lincoln’s Te Whariki development, scheduled for completion in mid 2020, will feature multi-purpose living spaces and an internal solarium.

Creating a contemporary family home re-imagined with the unexpected, one Christchurch building company is breaking all the design rules, igniting thought about how living space is matched with lifestyle.

Design and build specialist RNP Homes is poised to bring to life its uniquely designed and very stylish show home in Lincoln’s Te Whariki development. Carefully designed and crafted, RNP Homes’ show homes enables visitors to touch, feel and experience the product’s quality while imagining how family and home blend to become lifestyle.

Due for completion mid-way through 2020, the angular design of the 290sqm single storey home reflects the size and shape of the section, maximising landscaped areas on either side of the home, while providing a spacious courtyard at the rear.

Tamsin Bobby, Concept Designer for RNP Homes, says the show home includes a number of major design features, including three interchangeable multipurpose living spaces that can be adapted to suit the owner’s needs.

“The living spaces have been designed in a flexible format, with a formal dining room that could be interchanged with the living space. One of our secret design features that really appeals to people is an internal solarium flooded with light from five large overhead skylights.”

A designer kitchen is complemented with European designed and made appliances, generous scullery, engineered stone bench tops, solar powered rain sensor Velux skylights and – the pièce de résistance – a café style breakfast booth. But perhaps the home’s design is best defined by its liberal use of natural materials juxtoposed with seriously stylie features such as Crittall windows and doors in the kitchen and solarium, injecting an industrial overtone.

“The solarium is designed to be an extension of the floor space with retractable Crittall doors enlarging the large dining/entertaining area. There’s also a large media room flowing from the kitchen, dining and living spaces.”

A hallway wrapping around the dining and solarium areas, provides access to the four bedrooms – with each bedroom opening into the light filled solarium.

While two of the bedrooms share the main bathroom, the master has its own en-suite and walk in robe. Indoor and outdoor flow between the private and spacious courtyard is encouraged through the media room, living area and master bedroom.

Established in 2006, RNP Homes has established a reputation as a versatile design and build company capable of undertaking a wide range of commercial and residential projects. Past commercial projects have included the Food Court and other capital projects at The Palms and the company is currently building Reading Theatres across the country.

RNP Homes positions itself as a craftsman builder of high-end architectural homes. Managing director Richard Preston says that as well as having its own building team, RNP Homes also has its own civil works and painting companies. “The last thing that you see on the walls is the paint and we like to have control over that process so we know the finished product will be spot on. Customer relationships are the thing that we try very hard to work on and our phone line is always open.”
